Verizon MAE®
services provide two types of public peering services.
Regional MAE Service Until recently, Regional MAE Service was the only option. A
customer port subscribing to regional MAE service could have peering
connections to other regional ports within the same MAE region
only. This type of service is still available on a per-port basis
with a fixed monthly fee for each port. There are several
new capabilities:
It is now possible to build
connections between two ports leased by the same customer.
A connection may be built
between a port with regional service to a port in any of the
interconnected exchanges subscribing to MAE Extended service.
MAE® Extended Service MAE Extended service extends peering capability beyond the regional area
and is available on a per-port basis. The MAE exchanges are
interconnected through the Verizon IP backbone enabling peering
connections for an extended service port to another
extended service or regional port
in any of the interconnected exchanges. Fees for the service are
usage based.
