PeerMaker Provisioning Tool

PeerMakerSM is a web-based provisioning tool designed to allow Verizon MAE customers to build and maintain their own peering connections.

Capabilities
  • The PeerMaker provisioner enables customers to initiate a new connection to another customer without contacting an operations center. A customer may also request a connection modification (increase or decrease bandwidth) or deletion using PeerMaker.
  • Using PeerMaker, customers can obtain traffic graphs of their ports and connections. There is choice of daily, weekly, monthly, and in limited cases, hourly views. PeerMaker retrieves the data and displays the graph on demand.
  • PeerMaker provides connection change tracking. Customers can get transaction history reports of their own connections.
  • PeerMaker provides a quick port summary showing used and available bandwidth.
  • Access to PeerMaker is via a standard web browser. Security is maintained using the SecurID® card.
Building Connections with PeerMaker
When two customers have decided to peer and have agreed upon the characteristics of the peering connection, one of the customers makes a request using the PeerMaker provisioner to build the connection. This customer is the initiator. The other customer is the target. PeerMaker notifies both customers of the request. The target customer reviews and accepts the request, using PeerMaker, and the connection is built. PeerMaker validates connection parameters entered by a customer and communicates with the underlying Network Management Platform to build the connection. This process is covered in detail in the PeerMaker User Guide.

Access to PeerMaker
For MAE ATM, MAE FE, and MAE Gige access, customer peering connections are provisioned using PeerMaker. Customers can access the PeerMaker software by logging into https://peermaker.mci.com. Security is controlled using Verizon-issued SecurID® cards. You must contact your Verizon Account representative to request your card. To use the system, you must log in as a registered user. Use of PeerMaker software and SecurID® card (for accessing PeerMaker) is free to customers of Verizon's MAE services.

Instructions for using PeerMaker to build and maintain peering connections are provided in the PeerMaker User Guide. The guide includes an introduction to the Verizon MAE Internet Exchange services and to peering concepts in addition to an illustrated step-by-step walk through of the various tools to build, modify, and view peering connections. You can use the PeerMaker User Guide online or download it.
