Where to get an IP Address

To obtain an IP Address for any of the MAE Exchange Points you must fill out the
Exchange Point IP Registration Form.

A sample registration form is shown below:

Following is an explanation of the fileds that must be filled in:

(N)ew (M)odify (D)elete - Enter the code N when submitting a new request. Enter M to modify information, such as AS#, domain name, or contact information (which will update DNS records) and D to delete your exchange point IP registration.

Which Exchange? - Enter the name of the exchange you are connecting to located at this link.
Following is a list of MAE exchanges. Enter the name that is shown in parentheses, for example: MAE-WEST.

MAE-East-ATM (MAE-EAST)
MAE-Central-ATM (MAE-CENTRAL)
MAE-West-ATM (MAE-WEST)
MAE-Paris (MAE-PAR)
MAE-Frankfurt (MAE-FF)
MAE-LA-FDDI (MAE-LA-F)
MAE-West-FDDI (MAE-WEST-F)

Date - Enter today's date (yyyymmdd), for example - 20020304 for March 4, 2002.

FULLY-QUALIFIED DOMAIN NAME for the interface - There are many different naming conventions; we recommend that you put the exchange point name somewhere in the DNS name. For example - mae-west.mae.net.

NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTER - Enter the contact information for your Network Operations Center in the designated fields.

  • 24/7 Voice - contact phone number, for example: 888-555-5555
  • NOC E-Mail - contact email, for example: noc@ispx.net>

TECHNICAL CONTACT - Enter the contact information for your organization's peering coordinator. However, since peering coordinators change over time, we recommend setting up a mail alias for peering contacts.

PEERING INFORMATION - Enter the appropriate AS number in the designated field. An AS number, based on your company location, has been assigned to your organization by a Regional Internet Registry.

  • For the Americas, Caribbean, sub-Saharan Africa> - ARIN
  • For Asia Pacific - APNIC
  • For Europe, Middle East, parts of Africa - RIPE

  • SNMP R/O string - Leave this field blank
  • Telco Assigned VPI/VCI pair (if applicable) - Leave this field blank
